This is where ideas take shape: In the OTTOKIND design department, products are developed, their design conceived and the master data created. The team is currently developing the multi4flex series (workstation systems), the Acoustic series and the Comfort workbench series.
From idea to product: ideas for new products, special requirements or specifications are generated in the monthly development meetings. Colleagues from Sales, Production, Purchasing, Shipping and Development are present. If an idea crystallizes, the client (usually the sales department) draws up a specification sheet for the design department. This draws up a concept and a preliminary calculation. Then design is carried out, master data generated, purchasing data maintained and programmed in collaboration with the prefabrication department. The process is then worked out with production – specifically with component production, robot programming, coating and final assembly, as well as shipping and packaging, of course.
Once everything has been agreed, sample production begins. After adjustments have been made, a pilot series is produced and tested for suitability for series production. This process usually takes around six months.
Of course, standard components are also specially adapted to customer requirements or projects are designed and produced specifically for customers. Sometimes the resulting products become standard.
Incidentally, new investments in the Gummersbach machine park also contribute to revisions to the product portfolio! The Salvagnini S4/P4 punching, shearing and bending machine has contributed to freeing up space and thus to efficiency and new possibilities in production since it was commissioned in fall 2023.
The Gummersbach team
The Gummersbach design team includes Jurij Mendel as Head of Processes and Development, Edgar Laufer as Development Engineer and Daniel Renke, responsible for development and technical order processing. New to the team is Yevgeny Selcho, who is retraining as a technical product designer.
